What is Raksha Bandhan?

If you ask me what is Rakhi or Raksha Bandhan, I couldn't answer at once because it's a bond of love and emotions and you know better that sometimes how hard it is to express emotions. In general, it is a Hindu festival, a ritual observed on the full moon day of the Hindu month of Shravan, on which sisters tie the sacred Rakhi string on their brothers' right wrists, and pray, for their long life.

Rakhi means ‘a bond of protection’, just a string but it has the power to make you feel enough strong that you can protect the one, whom you promise to protect – your dear Sister.

This bond is ever special gift by God to us because after parents, he ties us in this relation from birth of other one. God doesn’t full everyone’s life with this relation. I don’t have any sister by blood but though he has blessed me with a sister by this great day of year – Raksha Bandhan. It was the relation that she tied with rakhi on my wrist. By that day I am the happiest one on earth.

This is the day, which fills someone’s heart with feelings of love and care and wrist with a promise of protection. Relation of brotherhood and sisterhood is a lifelong relation. As sisters are always the best of friends who take care of your even if she is big or younger. They always have a soft corner in their heart for their sweet brothers. Great people history has said many sayings and quotes for his God blessed relation –

“Sister is probably the most competitive relationship within the family, but once the sisters are grown, it becomes the strongest relationship.”
Margaret Mead

“She is the mother I never had; she is the sister everybody would want. She is the friend that everybody deserves. I don't know a better person.”
Oprah Winfrey

“For there is no friend like a sister in calm or stormy weather; To cheer one on the tedious way, to fetch one if one goes astray, to lift one if one totters down, to strengthen whilst one stands.”
Christina Rossetti

And many more word expressions like these quotes. I always pray that may God bless everyone with this relationship.
I've many more words to express about Raksha bandhan or Rakhi but I know thousands of word can't express this day of such a special relationship, those all words will not enough.

Happy Raksha Bandhan.
